In addition to his other work, Guggenheim is also an award-winning professional photographer and has shot professionally since he was 19. He was won more than 60 photography awards since 2015 alone. His work includes wildlife, landscape, underwater, fine art, portraiture and commercial fashion photography with locales spanning the Antarctic, the Falkland Islands/Malvinas, Cuba, Alaska, Russia, the Middle East and beyond. Much of the imagery he has captured is drawn directly from his conservation work and is an integral part of his public speaking appearances. His work has been published in numerous publications and books.

“Forward March” – A group of king penguins march by in formation on South Georgia Island.

“Off to Work” – A group of gentoo penguins on South Georgia Island make their way to the sea to feed & bring food for their young. To reach the sea they must hop down steep & treacherous terrain.

“Doubletake” – A pair of king penguins stand motionless in symmetry on South Georgia Island.

“Antarctic Pup” – A newborn Antarctic fur seal. Sealing drove the species to near-extinction in the 19th century. Populations have been recovering since sealing ceased in the early 20th century.

“Scraggly Tree” – A windswept tree, frozen during a severe winter. This is a high dynamic range (HDR) image combining 10-20 separate images. “Such a Deer” – An unusually social deer pays a visit, its snowy snout revealing its morning of foraging for food beneath the snow. (Canaan Valley, West Virginia)

“Nibbler” – A trunk fish nibbles on a moon jelly above a stand of elkhorn coral in Cuba’s Punta Francés marine reserve. Once abundant, elkhorn coral is now considered critically endangered.

“Frigates” – A pair of frigate birds soar overhead at sunrise. With a wingspan of up to 7 feet, frigates can remain aloft for months at altitudes up to 12,000 feet.

“Cocodrilo” – A young American crocodile peers above the shallow waters of southern Cuba. Crocodiles thrive in both fresh & saltwater versus alligators which prefer fresh water.

“River of Fish” – A large school of horse-eye jacks, slowly winds its way through the corals.

“Pink Vases” – Pink vase sponges (Niphates digitalis) among soft corals off Cuba’s southern coast.

“Plaything of the Tide” – A white spotted jellyfish – Phyllorhiza punctata – drifts with the currents in the warm waters of southern Cuba.

“Chevy” – An iconic old Chevy on a dark, rainy night in Old Havana.

“La Habana Vieja” – A view of Havana and the Capitolio taken from across Havana Bay, revealing a vibrant city that seems frozen in time.

“Viñales at Dawn” – Cuba’s Viñales Valley & its iconic hills known as “mogotes.” This is a high dynamic range (HDR) image combining 10-20 separate images.

“Dixi” – Dixi is one of 50 kittens & young cats being rehabilitated at a volunteer rehabilitation shelter built on a rooftop in Havana, a project supported by Ocean Doctor.

“Alaska Moon” – A full moon rises above the snow-covered mountains of Anchorage, Alaska.

“Be Still” – Mountains and rocks reflect in the still waters of the early morning (near Denali National Park, Alaska).

“Fall in the Vineyard” – The exquisite fall colors are not limited to trees. The vineyard bursts with color and tranquility on an October morning. (Muse Vineyards, Woodstock, Virginia)..

“Drama in the Deep” – Brilliant pink soft coral, Swiftia pacifica, photographed from a submersible at 1,300 feet beneath Alaska’s Bering Sea. Deepwater corals are the longest-lived animals on the planet, living up to 4,000 years old.

“North Fork” – Shot on an early summer morning from the low bridge near Muse Vineyards. This is a high dynamic range (HDR) image combining 10-20 separate images. (Woodstock, Virginia.)

“Liquidity” – This rock formation is reminiscent of lava but in fact is the result of millions of years of pressure, uplifting and weather. (Wolf Gap Recreational Area, West Virginia).

“The Eagle’s Call” – An eagle’s beak appears to emerge from this rock formation above the valley, Wolf Gap Recreational Area, West Virginia..
